Gilt bronze, about 5/8” (0.59”) width of wheel form with six spokes, pierced circular hub, and pierced scalloped edge. Representing the Wheel of Fortune, a Pagan concept descended from the Romans and overlapping with the Christian era as many superstitions did. The six perimeter circles are probably a tribute to the Medici's arms and thus, to Venice. At the time, the Medici arms incorporated five circles which were reinterpreted in a variety of forms including the three ball symbol for pawn shops.
