Gilt bronze, C.500-800AD. Size 10 with 3.9mm width band flaring to the shoulders. Lozenge form bezel with dot motifs, mostly obscured by burial degradation. That decoration is associated with the Saxon culture, in northern Europe and migrating to England at the time. The style and proportions emulate Roman rings, though Rome never conquered as far north as the Saxons. Professionally refurbished for modern wear with a 24karat gold surface.
