RARE VIKING WARRIOR’S BRACELET PENDANT NECKLACE, 10th-11th CENTURY AD

$360.00 Sale
Vikings were highly skilled metallurgists, and as a result, breaking metal had supernatural significance for them. Breaking ringjarn (iron rings) as shown on the Larbro Stone, was thought to destroy the spirits of enemies. Similarly, Viking weapons and accouterments were broken for burial with their owners. This is the broken end of a fine Viking warrior's bronze bracelet. It is about 37/8” x 1/2”. It was hand-decorated by a Viking craftsman, 1000 years ago! It has a three bar band basket weave pattern with circle or dot clusters in the voids, probably representing celestial formations. It has been professionally refurbished with a pure silver overlay restored and mounted to an 18” polished leather neck cord for modern wear. It comes with a certification of authenticity, and gift boxed.
