Just under 1” length. Classic depiction with arched body, and fan tail. The head more closely resembling a shark. Dolphins were both revered and feared by Romans and often depicted with vicious toothy mouths. Numerous examples of this image are preserved, with a significant number in mosaics, many with Cupid astride the dolphin. Well modeled and excellent preservation with original detail and surfaces throughout. Refurbished with the gold surface renewed, on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
