Gilt bronze, made with overlapping prong band allowing slight flexibility in size, 6 to 6 ¼. Vikings were especially interested in complex shapes and that feature may be an alternative to producing a closed circle which had spiritual significance. Large over 7/8” (0.89”) oval bezel decorated in punch work including borders, transverse banding, and triangles to the field. The classic Viking warrior’s shield ring scaled for a woman warrior. It is well documented that women fought alongside men and women’s burials containing swords, other weapons and armor are documented. The surface is textured from burial. It was handcrafted by a Viking artisan 1000 years ago, worn by a Viking woman warrior, and buried as part of her funerary ritual! It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored and it comes with a certification of authenticity, and a gift box.
