Silvered bronze, slightly under 1” width. Crescent form, of diamond section, with scrolled terminals, probably representing Sol the sun and Mani the moon. Significantly, the terminals touch before separating to the scroll terminals, perhaps representing an astronomical event with spiritual significance. As expert navigators, the constellations signified mystery and power to Vikings They relied on astronomy to navigate and the heavenly bodies had supernatural significance.
