9th century, Cambridgeshire England. Bronze, with a rounded face and of 4.1mm width, varying somewhat from hand work. Made with a central core to distribute the molten metal and heat. The core was then laboriously removed by hand with the remnants still visible. Wonderful primitive character. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored.
