Medieval “Blessing” Ring, 10th-16th Century AD, Size 3 1/2
Bronze, size 3 1/2 for a woman’s small finger. Rounded face band, 2.5mm width, sized in its working life. Oval bezel with scalloped edge and radial quadrants as found on rings displaying the Star of Bethlehem, and probably dating this example to the earlier centuries of the time span. Favored by travelers, particularly pilgrims and thought to bring good fortune and insure safety. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, P.102 for another example.
