7/8” width, made by the open face mold method. Broad heart form with nubbed quarter points and of the flat section. The face hand incised with addorsed foliate sprigs. The form of the heart is stylized with the top cusp absent. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Light surface texture from burial. Professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear.
