Regular price $145.00 Sale

Gilt bronze pendant with ribbed turnip form. A smaller version of the hollow-backed "shell" form pendants which are, in several references, identified as prostitutes' pendants, worn to identify them in the streets. Prostitution was widespread and practiced openly in ancient Rome. Prostitutes were very young and often slaves. This petite pendant just 3/8" long plus the loop, thus, accords in size. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on a gilt neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
