VIKING ROPED OR TWIST WEDDING RING, SIZE 9 1/2
Cambridgeshire, England, 866-1067 AD. Oval form, size 9 1/2, 1.6mm at the bottom swelling to 2.4mm at the top. The top 1/2 is a modeled roped motif (some wear from its use in antiquity). The spiral or helix was a favorite Viking form. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Vikings exchanged wedding rings on the pommel of the groom's sword.
