ANCIENT VIKING WEDDING RING 8TH CENTURY AD, SZ 6 1/2
Rare early variation. Cast as a solid disk with the center (core) laboriously removed by hand with remnants intact. The outer face rounded and showing a hand-hammered finish. Bronze, with the 24karat gold surface restored for modern wear. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
