C.8th-11th centuries, the period of pilgrimages leading up to the Crusades. Size 10 ½. 20.0mm inner diameter. Band tapers from 9.8mm at the bezel to 3.5mm at the rear. Raised oval bezel with incised foliage motif. Surface wear from burial. The Byzantine Empire with capitol in Constantinople, comprised Italy and the Eastern portion of the ancient Roman Empire around the Mediterranean, and Asia Minor. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
