9th-10th century. Bronze, 1" total height. Sphere tipped beams with a rounded square center with a saltire, each side. Suspension loop intact. The saltire, like a Roman X, (also known as a St. Andrew's cross) was used on the coinage of the Christian Emperors of Rome and symbolized the authority of the Christian church in the 9th and 10th centuries. Dark patina with good detail and light encrustation from burial.
