5th-7th century AD. Bronze, size 8 1/2. Slightly oval form rounded section band with rectangular bezel impressed with five concentric circles representing the five wounds of Christ. The shoulders with a single concentric circle each. These were made and sold along the route to The Holy Land, often at minor shrines along the way. Those same routes later were taken by Crusaders in their quest to wrest Jerusalem from the Muslims. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored.
