FINE BYZANTINE SILVER RING C.8th-11th CENTURY
From the period of pilgrimages leading up to the Crusades. Size 8 ¼. Silver as made with raised oval bezel decorated in floral splay. The shoulders in stylized design, one side excellent and crisp, the other worn. The Byzantine Empire, with its capitol in Constantinople, comprised Italy and the Eastern portion of the ancient Roman Empire around the Mediterranean, and Asia Minor. A rare example in good preservation.
