Fine Christian Pilgrim's Ring 8th-9th C.ad , Sz 1
Gilt bronze, size 1 for wear between the first two joints of the small finger. Oval bezel incised with a border and four large circles. 1.6mm rounded face oval band low ridged at the shoulders. These were produced and sold on the route to the Hold Land at shrines dedicated to local saints. The motif is a later incarnation of the five wounds decorative considerations. The surname Palmer descends from Christian pilgrims who were known as palmers, at the time. The 24karat gold overlay is restored for modern wear. See the reference image which shows the process. Jewelry gift box and certificate of authenticity included.
