From the period of pilgrimages leading up to the Crusades. Size 10. 19.7mm inner diameter. Band is 4.2mm wide. Gilt bronze with raised oval bezel decorated in radial floral splay. The shoulders in naturalistic foliage. Excellent with minor wear only. The Byzantine Empire with its capital in Constantinople, comprised Italy and the Eastern portion of the ancient Roman Empire around the Mediterranean, and Asia Minor. A rare example in exceptional preservation. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certification of authenticity.
