Crusades period. Just under 1 1/4” diameter, comprising a radial splay of hemispheres on stalks, probably a late reference to the Roman Rota Fortuna (Wheel of Fortune). That was the symbol for Fortuna and embodied the concept that fortune and therefore life, was capricious. High conical center surrounded by dots, corresponding to the roots of the stalks. Gilt bronze, professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored.
