FINE MEDIEVAL WOMAN’S PENDANT C.10th-12th CENTURY
Gilt bronze, just under 1 1/4” height. Large central inset red stone with 10 radial members (plus the suspension loop), each as a swelled bulb on a stalk, obvious references to fertility, rebirth and abundance. The form is derived from the earlier Roman Wheel of Fortune, which carried on through the Medieval period, sometimes in interpretative forms as here. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored, for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
