The period of Christ, and the persecution of Christians. Just under 1 3/4” length plus the suspension loop. Finely delineated hilt with the bulbous pommel, waisted grip, and rectangular triple banded cross guard. Tapered blade, pierced for suspension. Said to represent the Roman gladius sword, these were awarded to Roman soldiers wounded in battle. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored, on a modern Sterling silver chain and gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
