FINE ROMAN PROSTITUTE'S RING, C.100-300 AD, SIZE 1
Gilt bronze, size 1+ for wear on the small finger between the first two joints as was the custom. 2.5mm medially ridged face band with the Roman thickened bottom. Elongated pyramidal form bezel on expanded base, superficially imitating a gemstone and blatantly advertising the intentions of the wearer. Roman prostitutes were typically adolescents, largely slaves. Prostitution was practiced openly with brothels sometimes sharing doors with libraries. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. See the reference image which shows the process. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
