FINE ROMAN PROSTITUTE'S RING, C.100-300 AD, SIZE 5 ½
Gilt bronze, size 5 1/2. 2.7mm rounded face band flaring to the shoulders. Hatched edge bezel with the center of pyramid form in two stages, with hatching at the transition and superficially imitating a gemstone and blatantly advertising the intentions of the wearer. Roman prostitutes were typically adolescents, largely slaves. Prostitution was practiced openly with brothels sometimes sharing doors with libraries. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Exceptional quality for these.
