FINE VIKING HEART PENDANT, 900-1000 AD
Slightly under 3/4" height, elegant form with central high relief cusped top heart on a large saltire. The field double bordered around a central trefoil. A heart within a heart! Identifying the sixth point is common for Viking pendants, but the significance, probably supernatural, is now lost. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on a gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
