Slightly under 7/8” height, with nubs at the sixth points. Raised rounded edge. Central motif obscured by wear in its working life. Made by the open face mold technique. The form of the heart is natural as in the body rather than stylized with the top cusp. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface lightly textured from burial and professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
