FINE VIKING HEART PENDANT 900-1050 AD
Over 1” height, flat section with broad borders scrolling to form the cusp of the heart and the top of the central trefoil. The foliate trefoil was a very popular motif for Viking hearts. The form of the heart is natural as in the body rather than stylized with the top cusp. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
