FINE VIKING HEART PENDANT 900-1050 AD
Well over 3/4” width, mold made with narrow border and unusual symmetrical foliate design The form of the heart is natural as in the body rather than stylized with the top cusp. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Light surface texture from burial. Rare form. Professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear.
