LARGE VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, 9TH-10TH CENTURY AD
Silvered bronze. Just over 1" width. Near flat section of the exaggerated form with the cusp formed by scrolls. Additional scrolling elements outlining a central trefoil. Made by the open face mold technique. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
