Regular price $120.00 Sale

Slightly under 3/4” height. Silvered bronze. Stylized with flared terminal central beam as popularized by the Maltese Cross.  The cross beam centered and small, producing an anthropomorphic silhouette.  The emergence from the Dark Ages is embodied in the rise to power of the Frankish King, Charlemagne in 768 (founder of the Holy Roman Empire after 800) followed by conquering southern Europe from France to Italy and much of Northern Europe. The condition for peace was acceptance of Christianity, under penalty of death. The conversion was effective and Northern Europeans, primarily Saxons, wore small crosses to affirm their Christianity. The tradition carried on and is still popular today. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored on modern sterling silver neck chain suitable for modern wear. Gif boxed with a certification of authenticity.
