10-12th century AD. Disk form, just over ½” diameter. Hand engraved with a cross with the quarters filled with crescents making the whole a variation of the Star of Bethlehem, which was iconic and at the time, depicted as a four-point star. dimpled border. Thick section made by the open face mold technique. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface renewed, on a gilt Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear.  Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Very rare early form.
