15th-16th century, Spanish, period of the Inquisition. Silvered bronze, over 1” height. Centered cross beam with each beam end as a trefoil representing the Trinity. The center pierced with a diamond. Made by the opened face mold process as evidenced by the back. The Inquisition was intended to flush out false converts to Catholicism. This pendant probably served as a visible affirmation of faith. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored on sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
