Large example of "Saxon" form with slender expanded terminal beams. Period of Charlemagne and the founding of the Holy Roman Empire by the Franks and the subjugation of initially, Northern Italy and Saxony and later, all of Western Europe. Accepting Christianity was a condition of surrender and wearing of small crosses indicated submission to Holy Roman Empire rule. 1 3/8" height.
