7th-10th centuries. Carried by European Pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land to visit the land where Christ lived and died. 1 3/4” height. The cross beam slightly above center and the beam terminals rounded. Classic Gothic two dimensional relief Corpus Christi with details obscured by degradation from burial. The top with a small impressed cross. A cross within a cross! The back hollowed for a sacred relic perhaps the hair of a saint, a splinter of the cross, etc. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored, on a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear.
