600-850 AD. This ring belonged to a man of the merchant class in the years following the fall of the Roman Empire. It was meant to advertise his status above the peasant class. It has a nub on the bottom, a carryover from the Roman taste. It is size 7 1/4, .9mm width band at the base with swelled shoulders. The raised bezel is of elongated oval form, perhaps relating to his profession. It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. See the reference image which shows the process. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
