MEDIEVAL PILGRIM’S RELIQUARY CROSS NECKLACE, 7th-10th CENTURY
Carried by European pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land to visit the land where Christ lived and died. The front with a deeply incised cross within the cross, and square with a saltire at the beam junction. The back is hollowed for the inclusion of a holy relic such as the hair of a saint. Slightly over 3/4” height plus the suspension loop. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored on a modern gilt neck chain for contemporary wear.
