OTTOMAN SIGNET SEAL
Bronze, 17th-early 18th century, the period of Mehmed IV-Suleiman II. Oval, 5/8", top cut with the owner's name. Reverse with integral raised lug/grip with pierced tip mounted with an iron ring, probably a mail link. Carried by warriors as both identification (predecessor to the dog tag) and to seal documents as needed, as most were illiterate.
