RARE VIKING HEART NECKLACE PENDANT C.10TH-11TH CENTURY AD
Rare variation, just under 1/4” width of fully developed heart form with cusped top bridged with a bar. The field hand engraved with a chevron and radials. Made by the open face mold technique. The heart of a fully developed form with cusped top form in excellent preservation. Surface textured from burial. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the warrior. It is said that Hrungnir, with whom Thor dueled (assisted by a sorceress), had a heart of stone. Professionally refurbished with silver overlay restored on a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
