Gilt bronze, size 10 with broad rounded face band, slightly flared at the bottom and flaring to the shoulders. Raised heart form bezel with a central eye in radial surround. Surface textured from burial and restored with 24karat gold for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. The sources of good and bad (evil) in everyday life were mysterious to ancient Romans. They believed that some had the ability to inflict misfortune and harm through a malevolent gaze. Rings such as this were worn to protect against the effects of such evildoers.
