Gilt bronze, about 1 3/8" height of spade form, delicately pierced and scalloped, with lobed terminal. Fastened to the laminar belt like leather protection for the area below the belt, the pteruges. In groups, these acted as a form of scale armor as well as adding flare to the formidable image of the legionary.
