Size 7 3/4. Gilt bronze with broad (4.4mm) rounded band with the Roman nub at the bottom and flared at the hatched shoulders. Raised lozenge form bezel with large hatched pattern incised. Probably a signet ring which could be impressed and compared to an impression on a document, clay tablet, or merchant’s seal. Aside from the permanence of the impression, most people were illiterate.
