Slightly under 1” width. Gilt bronze, cast, and chased in minute detail as the crescent moon with baluster tips representing Sol the sun and Mani the moon. The body finished in detail, front and back, with raised edges and a radiant celestial body top center. A broad beaded inner border forms a circle around the figure. Elongated baluster column to the top. Viking worship involved the heavenly bodies on which they relied for guidance when sailing. Fine quality and exceptional preservation with the 24karat gold overlay restored and mounted on a modern gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear.
