VIKING GILT BRONZE BEAD, 9th-10th CENTURY
5/8” length. The double bead form is of specific significance to Vikings. The triple bead as seen here is very rare and additionally important, probably talismanic. Originally gilt with the gold now restored. Beads were valued more than gold to Vikings and the produced them as well as pillaged and ransomed for them. In the 10th century, they went to Indonesia specifically to procure a ransom of their legendary miniature beads. Fine center piece for a modern jewelry creation.
