VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, 10TH CENTURY AD
Small, charm size example. Early form heart with raised edge surround. Just under 3/4” height, made by the open face mold technique. Surface lightly textured from burial. For Vikings the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the warrior. It is said that Hrungnir, with whom Thor dueled (assisted by a sorceress), had a heart of stone. Professionally refurbished with silver overlay restored on sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
