VIKING HEART PENDANT C.850-1050 AD
Gilt bronze, ¾” height. Full form heart of fully evolved form with raised edge surrounding a trefoil. The trefoil, foliate theme was very popular among Vikings for decoration and relates to their relationship with nature. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, attributes of the warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Exceptional example, professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear.
