VIKING HEART PENDANT C.850-1050 AD
Gilt bronze. Large opened heart in the classic form with "horned" top and nub finial. The edge with incised circles. 1 1/2" height. Lightly textured from burial and professionally refurbished with the gold surface restored. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature.
