Early example of the fully evolved form with cusped top and near rounded sides. Slightly domed with large central trefoil motif, the upper members comprising the scrolled border terminal. Just over 3/4” height. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface lightly textured from burial and professionally refurbished with the gold restored for contemporary wear.
