The field with a formalized trefoil or fleur de lis with addorsed scrolls above. Thick, of high rounded section, produced by the open face mold technique. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface worn from use.
