VIKING LUNAR PENDANT
Gilt bronze. As expert navigators, the constellations signified mystery and power to Vikings. Lunar pendants were worn as pectorals as well as suspended from belts, other clothing and horse harness. This example is just under 1” wide and fashioned as indented crescent moon with the tips representing Sol the sun and Mani, the moon. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored for contemporary wear.
