10th-11th century, silvered bronze, just over 1” width (1.02”). Made by the open face mold method and formed as a crescent with three pairs of addorsed curved lines quite like ribs. Probably representing a celestial phenomenon of the convergence of specific astronomical bodies. Some wear, from the time of its use. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored and on an 18” modern Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
