VIKING PROTECTIVE ARMOR BROOCH, 10th-11th CENTURY
Bronze, just under 3/4” diameter (0.74”). circular with rounded faces front and back meeting to ridged edges. One side narrowed for the cross pin and the other wider to seat it. Surface textured from burial. Worn in numbers, these were decorative as well as serving as a measure of protection from sword blows. See multiple images for a similar brooch with a sword cut.
